This 6 night safari visits Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater before going into the north-eastern Serengeti. The route shows the best areas to visit during November to see the wildebeest migration.
When to go
By November, the wildebeest migration has started moving south from the Masai Mara into the eastern Serengeti and Loliondo Game Controlled Area. The "short rains" are approaching from the south attracting the migration.
Game walks with Maasai Warriors in the Loliondo Game Controlled Area.
Arrive and overnight in Arusha to recover from the international flight.
Day 1: Picked up by your safari guide and drive to Tarangire National Park. This is approximately a 2 hour drive. Lunch at the lodge and then an afternoon game drive in the park.
Day 2: After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Morning game drive in Manyara. Continue on to Ngorongoro Crater in the afternoon. Stay at Gibb's Farm or one of the other lodges at Ngorongoro.
Day 3: Game Drive into Ngorongoro Crater.
Day 4: Fly to one of the airstrips in the north-eastern Serengeti. The best camps to stay in November are: Klein's Camp or Nomad Loliondo Mobile camp (this is a mobile camp and is normally set up in northern Loliondo in November).
Day 5 & 6: Full day game drive in the Serengeti or Loliondo Game Area. This allows you to spend the whole day tracking the wildebeest migration. Game walks can also be done in Loliondo. Walks are done with Maasai Warriors.
Day 7: Fly from the Serengeti to Arusha.
The "short rains" have started in the Serengeti, but game viewing can still be good. Some roads can become muddy.
The north eastern Serengeti and Loliondo are remote and do not attract lots of tourists. This gives visitors to the area exclusive access to wildlife.
